Move the equip item button or add a lock items button

I have done this a few times but I usually catch it... in the heat of battle I scavenge a shirt to make bandages but I accidentally change shirts instead.... however one time I didn't catch it and my stats went way down just long enough that I died AND to make matters worse I LOST MY RED COWBOY SHIRT.... I would like to suggest a means to locking items .. especially ones that are equipped. or moving the equip button from the backpack to the equipped character screen.. I am sure I am not the only one this has happened to.

Yes. I've scavenged gear while trying to equip it or swapped it out, trashed it, etc. The crafting menu is wonky and when mobs spawn from out of nowhere sometimes managing inventory is like trying to play Dance Dance Revolution in the middle of a buffalo stampede.
