When dying to a npc enemy you loose random amount of items in your backpack and nothing equipped (clothes, armors, weapons)
When dying to a hostile player, you loose all your backpack, and all or half of worn items to the player - he can take it. However I will consider changing it, to don't encourage killing players for loot.

oh yes, I guess i understood it wrong... I encourage you to change it ASAP... losing gear like that in PVP will destroy this game for 85% of the player base :/

This is a post apocalyptic setting, I like that is is similar to what one would assume the real world would be like if such was going on in the real world, that being said, I don't disagree with players dropping gear in pack or equipped, here is why, in the real world during such times, it's every man for himself, this game will be best working as a faction/gang, think safety in numbers.
Think of it this way, if killed in the real world during these post apocalyptic conditions, you would lose everything you are carrying on you at time of your death, but I believe that for this game when killed you should only lose crafting materials and gear if it's better than the attackers equipped gear.
